From: Dr Dan Swan To: Brian Elliott Finley Hi Brian, I thought you might be interested in including the Bio-Linux project in your list of projects that use (in our case rely!) on SystemImager. The Bio-Linux website is http://envgen.nox.ac.uk/biolinux.html Bio-Linux is an integrated, bioinformatics-centred, computer system. By providing both standard favourite and cutting edge bioinformatics tools on a Linux-based system, it combines the benefits of being powerful, configurable, and easily updatable, with the ease of use and potential for software integration required for the handling and analysis of biological data. We use SystemImager to install and update Bio-Linux worldwide, although our main focus is groups in the UK that are part of a NERC funded program (NERC is the Natural Environment Research Council) for the study of Environmental Genomics. I notice looking through the site that SystemImager is mentioned, but not given prominent coverage. Given how much we use the product (daily!) to install Bio-Linux and also manage our clusters - I will remedy this soon! We have nothing but praise for the product and its developers here. regards, Dan -- Dr Dan Swan - Bio-Linux Developer EGTDC, CEH, Mansfield Road, Oxford, OX1 3SR Tel: 01865 281 630 Fax: 01865 281 696 http://envgen.nox.ac.uk/ | dswan@ceh.ac.uk
